DIY Used Books

If you are like me, then it is an inconceivable idea, and I don’t want to think about getting rid of your books. I am personally attached to all my books, and I’ve annotated all of them, even the ones I hate (Jane Austin’s Emma, I’m talking about you here). Books are hard to get rid of because you might be emotionally attached to them because they took us on a journey, and for me reading is my form of escapism. Most of us bookworms have a big bookshelf with books that we love but haven’t touched for eons. However, if you are moving to college to out of your parents’ home, then you ought to go through your books and decide which books you’d like to keep and which you’ll like or rather books you can get rid of. So, without further ado, let’s get in the way in which you can upcycle your old books.

Wrapping paper

If you have a lot of comic books, mangas, and graphic novels lying around that you no longer use, then one thing you can do with them transforms them into wrapping paper. The holiday season is right around the corner, and this could be the perfect wrapping paper for your weeb friends. The picture from your graphic novel, comic, or manga is the perfect wrapping paper and is a sign that you’ve gone out of your way to beautifully embellish the gift you are giving to your loved ones. It makes it looks like you’ve made a lot of efforts to wrap your gifts when in reality, you are saving money on wrapping paper, and you are upcycling things you no longer use. It’s a win-win situation if you ask me.

Book headboard

Books are really nice for aesthetics, and who doesn’t want a rainbow headboard with fairy light? This is what dreams are made of if you are me. So, if you love books, you might consider them for the décor of your place because as a bookworm, you’ll find that books are very versatile. You can use your old bookshelf or even stack your old books on top of each other and make them look like a headboard. The best thing about crafting your perfect headboard is that you can personalize It yourself, and you can pick and choose which book to display, and this is a great conversation starter. Because how many people do you know that have a headboard which is made of used books.

Secret book hideout

Do you have a beautiful hardcover that is just lying around? Then you can turn it into a secret book storage. You can hide your most valuable items in them, and it is a simple way to transform an old drab book into the perfect storage box. You simply have to carve out the pages and make them look like containers. Personally, I have several secret book storage that I use to store money, my cigarettes, and even letters and things that matter the most to me in my head; if a thief breaks into my home, they won’t touch or rampage through my books. Thus my personal belonging will be safe. Now, you have to figure which book you will use to create your perfect storage box. If you are a bookworm like me, then you take all the precautions in the world to not crack the spine of your books or crease and distort the papers of your books. For me, gutting a book is almost like gutting a human being because I love books so much, and it is difficult to damage books, except if it is a Jane Austin book because I hate her. This may be because I was forced to read her books at school and college and hate them to the core. But if you don’t know what to do with your books, then you can always donate them or give them to someone else.
