Coffee not only gives you that extra kick that you need to start your day off on the right foot, but it also has a lot of medicinal benefits that most of us aren’t aware of. Most of us drink coffee without even knowing that it provides us with antioxidants and contains more antioxidants than tea or wine. So, don’t let anyone judge your coffee consumption now and tell them that’s it’s good for your body. Aside from that, using it as a face mask also has many advantages like:

    • Acne treatment
    • Anti-aging effect
    • Calming effect- while it is known to boost your energy when ingested, it has the opposite effect when applied to the skin.
    • Cellulite reduction- the caffeine in it dilutes the blood vessels and improves blood flow, which helps reduce the appearance of cellulite.
    • Reduce and help with dark circles.
    • Reduce inflammation

How to make your coffee face mask

The use of coffee in the beauty world is on the rise, and it has a lot of benefits that big cosmetics industries hide from us because if we know what the products are made of, we will no longer buy them, and we‘ll make them ourselves. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered and will tell you some of the ways you can use coffee to make your own face mask and save money on skincare products. All you need to make a simple yet effective coffee mask are:

    • Ground organic coffee- ½ cup
    • Unsweetened cocoa powder (organic is preferable)- ½ cups
    • Whole milk (either dairy or almond milk)- 1 cup
    • Lemon juice- 1 tabelspoon
    • Honey- 1 tablespoon
    • Bowl
    • Makeup brush

Step 1

Add your dry ingredients in a bowl, that is the coffee ground, and the unsweetened cocoa powder and give them a good mix. After both are mixed thoroughly, add your milk and mix until it forms a paste. For a thicker consistency, add less milk; the consistency of the face mask depends on you. Then add 1 teaspoon of honey and lime and mix again. Voila, your paste is ready to use.

Step 2

As with any mask, you need a clean face prior to applying it. Remove all your makeup and wash your face to get rid of any impurities and dirt present in the air. Then damp your face with a smooth towel, and you are ready to apply the mask.

Step 3

After you’ve cleansed your face, you are ready to apply your mask, apply it liberally and cover your whole face with it. You can either apply it with your fingertips or use a makeup brush.

Step 4

Leave the mask to dry for at least 20 minutes for it to work its magic. This means you can take 20 minutes to relax and scroll mindlessly on social media. I advise everyone who does this face mask to just kick back and relax for this part as it might be one of the only moments of the day that you can allow yourself 20 minutes to do nothing.

Step 5

After 20 minutes, you can rinse your face off, and after 3 to 4 masks, you will notice a difference and have a smoother and clearer skin. The lemon in the mask will tighten your skin and reduce oil production, the honey locks in moisture, the cocoa powder helps against free radicals, the milk helps to smooth your skin, and you can see the benefits of using coffee above.

Try this coffee mask at home, and you will see a clear difference after only 5 applications. Sound off in the comments section below and tell us if you want to try a coffee face mask.
