I love myself a good cocktail; for me, it is the best part of going out, aside from being with my loved ones. I’m a social drinker and smoker; that is, I only drink and smoke in social settings and don’t usually drink alone. However, drinking out can cost you a pretty penny and can break the bank if you go out too much.

This is why you need to learn to make your favorite cocktails at home. Not only will this save you a lot of money, but this can also be your new party trick. So, without further ado, let’s dive further into this blog and learn how to make some of your favorite cocktails at home.

1. Sex on the beach

cocktail

This is one of those cocktails we all love to order just because of its name. Sex on the beach is a mixture of peach schnapps, Vodka, cranberry juice, and orange juice. It is the ideal fruit-based cocktail for those with a sweet tooth. It is also pretty straightforward to make.

In a shaker filled with ice, add 1 1/3 oz cranberry, 1 1/3 oz Vodka, 1 1/3 oz Orange juice, and 2/3 oz Peach schnapps. You have to strain the cocktail into a highball glass and garnish it with 3 cherries and an orange wedge. From there, you have to combine them by shaking them, and voila, you have the perfect sex on the beach to enjoy on those hot summer days.

2. Mojito

This is one of those refreshing drinks that we all need, especially during those hot summer days. For me, this is a cocktail that literally screams summer and is one of those drinks that everyone should try at least once in their life. This simple cocktail is rather simple to make and has only 5 ingredients.

The ingredients that make up this drink are white rum, sugar, soda water, fresh lime juice, and leaves of mint. If you want to make this cocktail, you have to muddle (crush or mix up) the mint leaves and lemon wedges. Then add your white rum, some lime juice, and soda water. Try this on a hot summer’s day and thank us later.

3. Margarita

cocktail

Not to be biassed or anything but this is the best cocktail out there, and it is my current favorite to have whenever I go out. If you want to get trashed on margaritas, we recommend you visit an Applebee’s, they have bottomless margaritas, and they are the best thing you can have there. You will get tanked the first time you go there, trust me on this one.

But if you are feeling fancy and want to make your margarita at home, then don’t worry. We’ll help you out. It only has 3 ingredients: Cointreau, Tequila, and lime juice. It is served in a margarita glass and usually has a salt rim. Because of its taste and cost, it is easily one of the most well-known tequila drinks out there.

4. Tequila Sunrise

This is a close contender for the most popular tequila drink out there. It is also another one of my favorites; what can I say? I’m a tequila person. Just like a margarita, a tequila sunrise also has only 3 ingredients. It is 3 parts tequila, 3 parts orange juice, and one part grenadine syrup. It is one of the tastiest and prettiest drinks out there in my book.

It is also pretty straightforward to make. Add equal parts orange juice and Vodka in a highball glass filled with ice and stir this. Then slowly pour 1 part grenadine syrup into the glass over the back of a spoon or if you are lazy, drizzle it down the side of the glass.

Then, you have to garnish it with a maraschino cherry and an orange wedge. This ’70s beauty will make you look fun and classy just by having it in your hands. You can enjoy this at any party, but you can also sip it while reading your favorite book, which is the way I enjoy mine.

5. Long Island Iced Tea

cocktail

This is one of those drinks that will get you wasted in no time, and you will for sure wake up with a hangover if you have more than 3 of them. This is because it is one of those drinks that contain a ton of alcohol. It has a mixture of not 1, not 2, not 3, but 5 different liquors, and this is why you usually advise not to go overboard with them, but who are we to stop you from having a good time?

Your traditional Long Island Ice Tea is made up of Vodka, tequila, triple sec, white rum, gin, and a splash of cola. This is one of those drinks that has a higher level of alcohol concentration than most highball drinks due to its relatively small amount of mixer. It is the cola that gives its this dark ice tea color; thus, its namesake.

Some of the most popular rifts of a long island ice tea are the Adios MotherF***er (which subs the triple sec with blue Curaçao and the cola with lemon-lime soda), the Grateful Dead or Purple Rain which substitutes the Triple Sec with a shot of Chambord and the Hawaiian Ice Tea which subs the cola for pineapple juice. These are only some of the popular alternatives for a Long Island Ice Tea.
