Crafts are super fun and something that more of us should get into. We all live stressful lives, whether you are a student, a parent, or are working. Life is stressful, and after the rough past 2 years, I think all of us should start a craft or leisure activity that allows us to forget our problems, no matter how mundane they are.
You should take time for yourself to do something creative, and this is a pleasant way to de-stress after a hard day of work or at school. So, without further ado, let’s dive further into this blog and learn more about some of the crafts you might want to consider starting for your well-being.
1. Knitting
Okay, I can guess what you are going to say, and no, knitting isn’t just for grandmas. I learned it from my late grandma, and it is a way for me to remember her and also a way to relax, especially when I have a hard day at work. It allows you to use your fingers and is especially useful for people who are jittery like me; it gives me something to do with my hands when I am stressed.
For me, it is a coll way to create homemade gifts for your loved ones, and you can create a plethora of things with this, from jumpers to scarves to room decorations. It is also relatively cheap; all you need to start out is 2 knitting needles and some yarn; knitting primarily uses two long needles, but you can also do it with machines to with a loom.
However, if you want to get into macramé, you need something to tie onto, and there is no needle required for crochet. You need a singular crochet hook. Knitting for me is a fantastic way to relax, and on top of that, I can have clothes to wear. It is a win-win situation if you ask me.
2. Drawing
Let your imagination go wild here and draw whatever you want on your preferred medium (paper or digital). Okay, if I can be honest for a minute, this is one of those skills I wish I had, but I can’t draw to save my life, and this bums me out.
Drawing is an excellent way to express yourself, and you can draw the scenery, an object, a person, or something that is entirely fictional or from your imagination. The world is your oyster when it comes to drawing. Do whatever makes you happy, and don’t stifle your artistic expression just to fit in a box; it is a way to relax and go ahead and draw, no matter how talented you are.
If you don’t want to start this alone, then you might want to challenge a friend to a 30-day drawing challenge, you can divide the days and decide on a prompt for each day. It is a perfect way to spend time with your friends and have fun at the same time. Whatever you decide to do, have fun and enjoy yourself.
3. Embroidery
This is also a leisure and a fantastic way to up-cycle old clothes as it allows you to give them a new life thanks to your artistic vision. Is their a hole in your favorite shirt, then you can revitalize it with embroidery, and it can decorate any article of clothing that you have in your closet and make them look more stylish and cooler.
This is also a relatively cheap hobby as you will use your needle and thread for more than more embroidery projects, and this is why we can’t stop but recommend it. It uses a few different kinds of stitches, and these are often in different colors to create a pattern or picture on the fabric.
To start, you have to stretch the fabric you want and an embroidery hoop over it. After you’ve placed the hoop, you have to trace your pattern one, this will be your guide on what you are stitching on your fabric, and it will help you out in this process. You will find a lot of free patterns online, and there are plenty of tutorials and guides out there.
